We are pleased to announce the return of our AstenJohnson University – Pulp course this fall in Charleston, SC, USA. This course sells out each year and the reviews are always excellent. Come join your peers and further your knowledge about pulp machine operation.

The course runs from Tuesday September 27 through Thursday September 29 in Charleston, SC. This course is suited for experienced operators and managers, but also provides an intense rapid learning session for those new to the pulp machine.

What You Will Learn:

Forming Fabrics and Press Fabrics Fundamentals: Learn key parameters of woven fabrics, how to use drainage and fiber support index, plus how it can impact your operations.

Forming: Participate in roundtables and presentations on Headbox, Formers, table setup, sheet quality, process optimization and new technology. You will find new approaches to addressing the challenges on your former.

Pressing: Press discussion will include Rolls, Showering, key learnings for optimization, troubleshooting, new technology, and vacuum box operation in the press section. Case studies that share improvement opportunities are sure to provide you with practical ideas for improvement on your press section.

Drying:  We have added a segment on drying the pulp sheet.  We will be discussing both Airborne and Can Style Dryer Sections.

This intensive 2 ½ day session is designed for individuals who are operationally focused such as Superintendents, Machine Managers, Process Engineers or other leaders. The course material, which is used to facilitate discussion, also makes this training extremely valuable for Pulp operations leaders with a non-machine background. Class size is limited (20 max) to maximize discussion and interactions.

Tuition and learning materials, lodging at the Hilton Garden Inn (Airport), and all meals are included, as well as some social events in the evenings to allow for networking and informal roundtables.

Participants can also choose to join a tour of our Press Felt Manufacturing Facility in Clinton, SC for a first-hand look at the design, manufacture and testing of Press Felts for the Pulp and Paper Industry. This tour takes place on Monday September 26 and has always been well attended and highly rated.

If you wish to participate in the Press Fabric Plant Tour, you must fly into Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport (GSP). We will provide transportation to the plant tour and then to Charleston. If you are NOT attending the plant tour, fly into Charleston International Airport (CHS). All departures should be from CHS.
