AstenJohnson Announces AJ Nonwovens

AstenJohnson Brings Eagle Nonwovens and Foss Performance Materials Under One Banner

CHARLESTON, S.C. (June 20, 2022) – AstenJohnson, a global industrial textile manufacturer headquartered in Charleston, South Carolina, is proud to announce the creation of a new division: AJ Nonwovens. AJ Nonwovens joins several AstenJohnson businesses, including Eagle Nonwovens in St. Louis, Missouri, and Foss Performance Materials in Hampton, New Hampshire.

“When AstenJohnson acquired Eagle Nonwovens in 2014 and Foss Performance Materials in 2017, it was with the intention of investing in innovative, top-of-the-line needlepunch products, and continuing to grow those businesses,” said AstenJohnson CEO and President Kevin Frank. “This new division is a continuation of that mission. Not only have we used the strengths of each company to help the other improve, but we are continuing to invest and innovate for future growth.”

While the locations in St. Louis and Hampton will remain, they will operate under the new name, AJ Nonwovens, along with a new facility in Waco, Texas. The Texas site is positioned to better serve customers in the South and Mexico. The existing locations will also fulfill orders for customers in North America. The Waco location will be a world-class facility that will open with two state-of-the-art Dilo Needlepunch lines.

As a combined entity, AJ Nonwovens’ three facilities will increase production capacity, and improve speed to market. Customers can expect to see new branding on invoices and packaging as early as this month, with the transition continuing throughout 2022. Existing business terms will continue to be honored, with leadership and business teams remaining firmly in place.

AJ Nonwovens President Neil Johnson said, “We have considered Eagle and Foss part of the AstenJohnson family from day one. Bringing them together under one name is a natural fit. Our customers can expect the same or better service, and to continue working with their existing teams. The entrepreneurial spirits that have made Eagle and Foss such great assets are alive and well. They are now backed by the stability and investment of AstenJohnson’s 230-year history in the industrial textile industry. Our aim is to make it clear to existing and future customers that there is only one company for the best needlepunch nonwoven materials – AJ Nonwovens.”
