Features The PF FORMER™ is a bladed former that's positioned opposite the Fourdrinier at a predetermined, application-specific location. What sets the PF FORMER™ apart is its grade-specific scope of supply. The dewatering capacity and detailed geometry that influence fluid flow and shear are all fully customized by grade. This engineered approach offers consistent sidedness, excellent formation and strong internal bond across a variety of grades—from well-formed, closed-up ultra-lightweight sheets to large-range, heavyweight sheets that are prone to crushing defects. The PF FORMER™ features components that optimally dewater and form the sheet as the consistency changes. Thanks to the shear and blade pulse frequency that gradually increase as the mat builds, the PF FORMER™ can create enough shear to redistribute flocs at a given basis weight without promoting high velocity drainage associated with fine material loss. This results in a good formation-retention relationship as well as excellent fiber and mineral fines sidedness. Built with operational flexibility for the paper maker in mind, the PF FORMER™ allows for many on-the-run adjustments. Its unique design, coupled with the applications engineering expertise that's exclusive to JohnsonFoils, means you'll benefit from superior sheet characteristics.
