Today, AstenJohnson products are at work in mills throughout the world. Our products help create many kinds of paper -- from fine writing paper and brown paper bags to cardboard boxes and newsprint. Paper makers in 56 countries profit from our ability to provide a headbox-to-reel understanding of papermaking through our total machine clothing and equipment capabilities, innovative products that are engineered to make the grade, a highly technical approach to service and sales and dedicated AstenJohnson professionals to help meet our customers' operational goals. AstenJohnson also produces monofilaments used in making paper machine clothing; specialty fabrics for pulp mills and manufacturers in non-paper industries; and equipment for paper machines.

1790    JWI founded in England as Manchester Wire Works

1852    Manchester Wire Works purchased by the Johnson family

1882    Oscar von Asten cofounded first Belgian-Austrian felt company in Vienna

1890    Oscar von Asten became sole owner of Asten & Co.
           Manchester Wire Works became C.H. Johnson & Sons Limited

1901    Charles Johnson opened first North American operations in Montreal, Quebec (Canada)

1931    Eduard von Asten opened first US dryer felt company in Philadelphia, PA, with Harold N. Hill

1963    Entered drainage equipment business

1966    Entered press felt market

1969    Asten-Hill Mfg. Co. acquired Wisconsin Wires, Inc. in Appleton WI, and became total length clothing company

1988    Opened extrusion facility in Summerville, SC

1999    Asten and JWI group merged to become AstenJohnson

2000    Acquired Asten AG in Eupen, Belgium

2003    Opened sales & marketing office in Singapore

2005    Acquired Sitos a.s. in Strakonice, Czech Republic
           Opened dryer facility in Suzhou, China

2007    Expanded Suzhou facility to manufacture forming fabrics

2009    Expanded Suzhou facility to manufacture press fabrics

2010    Opened JohnsonFoils' ceramic manufacturing facility in Bangkok, Thailand
